Mother cleared over blaze deaths

Derbyshire"&sol;><&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>A woman has been cleared of killing two of her children in a house fire&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Fiona Adams&comma; 24&comma; was found not guilty by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court of murdering daughter Niamh&comma; five&comma; and two-year-old son Cayden in the blaze in Buxton&comma; Derbyshire&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>She escaped from the house in Edale Way with youngest child Kiernan by jumping from an upstairs window just before midnight on April 23 last year&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>As the jury delivered its verdict&comma; Adams sobbed loudly and held her hands up to her face&period; James Maynard&comma; the father of the children&comma; also wept in the public gallery as Adams was cleared of all charges&period; Members of her family shouted &&num;8220&semi;yes&&num;8221&semi; as she was cleared&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>During the trial&comma; prosecutor Timothy Spencer QC told the court Adams started the blaze because she wanted to create a &&num;8220&semi;drama&&num;8221&semi; to get partner James Maynard&&num;8217&semi;s attention&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The court heard that Mr Maynard had cheated on Adams several times&comma; which led to her attempting suicide on a previous occasion&period; Mr Spencer said Mr Maynard was repeatedly late home from his job as a waiter and bartender at the Buckingham Hotel and would often fail to reply to her text messages&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He should have returned home from work that night between 9pm and 10pm and did not&comma; Mr Spencer said&comma; and it was not long after this that Adams began complaining of an intruder in the garden&period; The court saw CCTV footage taken from a next-door neighbour&&num;8217&semi;s house around that time&comma; in which banging and crashing could be heard before a woman&&num;8217&semi;s voice shouted &&num;8220&semi;hello&comma; hello&&num;8221&semi;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Adams called police&comma; telling them someone had &&num;8220&semi;trashed&&num;8221&semi; her garden&period; Two police officers arrived at the house just before 11pm but did not find any signs of a disturbance&period; The prosecution said Adams&comma; who had tried to call Mr Maynard several times&comma; then started a fire in a laundry basket in the hallway&period; <&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Adams said she heard the smoke alarm go off after going to bed&comma; and realised the house was ablaze&period; She took the children into her bedroom because their windows were locked&comma; she said&comma; then dialled 999&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>She said she opened the window to &&num;8220&semi;chuck the children out of it&&num;8221&semi;&comma; and remembered letting Kiernan go&comma;
