<p>The music of Mozart will fill the London Underground as classical buskers take their instruments into stations.</p>
<p>Members of the BBC Symphony Orchestra are among the musicians performing in a series of concerts at four stations &#8211; Canary Wharf, Bank, Waterloo, and Liverpool Street &#8211; as part of Radio 3&#8217;s Genius of Mozart season.</p>
<p>Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: &#8220;There is no doubting Mozart&#8217;s prodigious talent, as this radio season attests. The familiarity of so much of his magnificent music may surprise some travellers, but what better way to brighten up the daily commute, especially on the first day back after the holidays. As another musical genius said it is truly &#8216;sweet sunshine&#8217;.&#8221;</p>
<p>The radio station has thrown its entire schedule over to the works of Mozart, playing every work written by the composer and nothing else.</p>
<p>For almost a fortnight it will broadcast recordings, documentaries, live performances and an acclaimed dramatisation of his life.</p>
<p>Contemporary music programmes will not feature in the schedule for the duration of the season, which runs for the first 12 days of January.</p>
<p>The Genius Of Mozart season follows previous celebrations of Beethoven and Bach, but this will be the most extensive dedication to one composer yet.</p>
<p>Roger Wright, Controller of BBC Radio 3, said: &#8220;Mozart was a prolific genius and his music is hugely attractive so we hope that new listeners will join Radio 3 on air, online and even on the underground for what promises to be a truly entertaining 12 days.&#8221;</p>
<p>There are more than 30 official busking pitches in more than 20 different Tube stations around the capital.</p>
<p>More than 60 stations already play classical music over their speaker systems in a bid to make them appear more welcoming.</p>
