<p>Police in South Africa are investigating a possible link between the British newlywed accused of hiring a hitman to kill his bride and another murder three years ago, the national commissioner said.</p>
<p>Wealthy businessman Shrien Dewani, 30, was released from Wandsworth Prison on bail after his family came up with £250,000 security.</p>
<p>Dewani is wanted by South African police for conspiracy to murder his new wife Anni, 28.</p>
<p>National Commissioner General Bheki Cele told reporters police are investigating a link between Dewani and the 2007 murder of Dr Pox Raghavjee.</p>
<p>Media reports suggested the Eastern Cape doctor&#8217;s widow knew Dewani and drove to Cape town to comfort him on the death of his wife.</p>
<p>Publicist Max Clifford, who is representing Dewani, dismissed the new claims, saying: &#8220;It&#8217;s a great story but it&#8217;s a total fabrication.</p>
<p>&#8220;How flimsy and ridiculous this whole thing is. If it wasn&#8217;t so tragic it would be a farce, a comedy.</p>
<p>&#8220;Anni&#8217;s father and Shrien&#8217;s own father were both there with him after the murder. I&#8217;m sure a woman turning up to comfort him would not have been much appreciated and would have been mentioned by Anni&#8217;s father.&#8221;</p>
<p>The commissioner has previously been criticised for describing Dewani as a &#8220;monkey&#8221;.</p>
<p>His spokeswoman said: &#8220;The investigation is ongoing even if it means linking Mr Dewani to other cases.&#8221;</p>
