No surprise as Beijing favourite Carrie Lam picked to lead Hong Kong

kept apart by hundreds of police officers&period; The pro-democracy crowd chanted &&num;8220&semi;I want genuine democracy&&num;8221&semi; &&num;8211&semi; the usual slogan for opponents of the current system&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Pro-democracy activists have criticised the system as a &&num;8220&semi;fake&&num;8221&semi; Her victory was no surprise because China&&num;8217&semi;s communist leadership had lobbied the committee to support her&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Her main rival was former finance chief John Tsang&comma;
