Massachusetts State Police have confirmed an erratic passenger put an entire plane-load of people at risk when she tried to open the emergency exit of a flight travelling from London Heathrow to Boston.

British Airways flight 213 had departed from London just before noon and a woman, said to be in her 30s, attempted to forcibly open the door.

Initially reports stated that the woman had attempted to enter the cockpit.

Later it was confirmed that she was trying to open the exit, while the plain was more than 10,000 ft in the air.

Massachusetts Police reported that the woman was “intoxicated” at the time and is now being interviewed by police.

The incident comes just days after Frenchman Jerome Chauris was arrested as he caused a security alert at Gatwick Airport.

Chauris was reported to airport staff after acting suspicious, and he was found to have both an air rifle and a knife in his possession.
