<p>The cost of living is expected to remain well above the Bank of England&#8217;s 2% target when official inflation figures are released on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Analysts expect the Consumer Prices Index (CPI) for November to remain at 3.2% when the Office for National Statistics (ONS) discloses the latest pricing data.</p>
<p>If the predictions are accurate, CPI will have been above the Bank of England&#8217;s 2% target for 12 months in a row.</p>
<p>The figure rose to 3.2% in October from 3.1% in September thanks to sharp rises in the cost of food and clothing.</p>
<p>The Bank recently predicted a spike in inflation towards the end of the year in its quarterly forecast, as commodity prices continue to soar, but insisted that current levels of inflation were down to temporary price shocks, such as food and petrol costs.</p>
<p>The gloomy forecasts were backed up by figures released yesterday that showed manufacturers faced a 9% year-on-year rise in input costs in November, up from 8.2% the month before.</p>
<p>Input prices were pushed higher by rising crude oil and fuel costs, while imported food materials also lifted, although this was partially offset by a fall in home-produced food.</p>
<p>Experts said the pressure was unlikely to ease in the near future, as oil prices have surged from 85 US dollars to 90 dollars a barrel in recent weeks.</p>
<p>Retailers offering promotions to win over cash-strapped consumers could help to limit the inflationary pressures.</p>
<p>Shop price inflation fell to 2% in November from 2.2% in October as stores started Christmas sales early, according to figures from the British Retail Consortium. Food price inflation unexpectedly eased to 4% in November from a 17-month high of 4.4% in October and non-food inflation slowed from 1.1% to 0.9%, it said.</p>
