		</div><p>Two US hospitals have said they have developed a rapid test for the Zika virus, which can produce results within hours.</p>
<p>It is mostly spread by mosquitoes &#8211; and has been linked to thousands of cases of birth defects in South America.</p>
<p>Pathologist Dr James Versalovich from Texas Children&#8217;s Hospital in Houston has said it is important to get quick results: “With this rapid test we can detect the virus, directly in blood and in other body fluids.</p>
<p>“And we can reassure pregnant women who may have exposed due to recent travel or may have symptoms also.”</p>
