A gift shop on a royal estate is selling a wedding souvenir calendar stocked with images taken by picture agency photographers – a year after the Queen warned newspapers against publishing “paparazzi pictures” of royals.

The Royal Wedding Souvenir Calendar 2011 – on sale for £8.99 at the gift shop on the Queen’s estate in Sandringham, Norfolk – is filled with photographs of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Photographs in the calendar – produced by J Salmon of Sevenoaks, Kent – are credited to independent photographic press agency Rex Features.

William and Miss Middleton are shown “skiing in Klosters”, “at the Cheltenham Festival”, “leaving the New London Theatre, London”, “watching rugby at Twickenham” and attending weddings.

Late last year, it emerged that the Queen had warned newspapers against publishing paparazzi photos of members of the Royal Family.

The Queen’s lawyers had contacted newspapers informing them of privacy obligations under their own code of practice, the Press Association reported in December 2009.

Paddy Harverson, the Prince of Wales’s communications secretary, told the Press Association: “Members of the Royal Family feel they have a right to privacy when they are going about everyday, private activities.

“They recognise there is a public interest in them and what they do, but they do not think this extends to photographing the private activities of them and their friends.”

The Press Association said the “hard line” followed “growing exasperation about intrusion”.

William had previously voiced concern after Miss Middleton – his then girlfriend – was “hounded by the paparazzi” in 2007, said the Press Association report.
