<p>Christmas has come early at Bristol Zoo Gardens as Santa distributed gifts for the four-legged and furry residents.</p>
<p>While an Xbox or iPad might be at the top of some Christmas lists, the zoo recipients appeared more than happy with stockings of fruit and fish.</p>
<p>In keeping with the festive season, the zoo&#8217;s latest arrivals &#8211; reindeer Jingle and Bell &#8211; were amongst those getting presents.</p>
<p>The two sisters were given their favourite food, lichen, to help keep out the cold.</p>
<p>Bristol Zoo&#8217;s spokeswoman Heather Holve said: &#8220;Reindeer are a traditional part of Christmas so it&#8217;s great to have them here for the festive period. They bring a real sense of magic to the zoo.&#8221;</p>
<p>Other recipients included the centre&#8217;s macaque monkeys, who went bananas for their presents.</p>
<p>And there was something fishy about the treats the South African penguins had in their stockings.</p>
<p>Ms Holve added: &#8220;The stockings are more than just festive decoration, they&#8217;re also a form of enrichment, helping to keep the animals interested because they have to hunt and forage for their food, making dinnertime a little bit more exciting.&#8221;.</p>
<p>Visitors to the zoo are able to get up close to the reindeer who will be there throughout the Christmas period.</p>
