		</div><p>Commemorations have been held in respect of the victims of the September 11 attacks in 2001.</p>
<p>15 years to the day of the world’s most infamous terrorist attack, which killed nearly 3,000 people, crowds have gathered to pay their respects.</p>
<p>Pictures and roses were left in commemoration at the National September 11 Memorial in New York.</p>
<p>At the ceremony held at the memorial, some were overwhelmed by emotion.</p>

<p>Nearby, in New York’s Yankee Stadium, an American flag was unfurled during a memorial ceremony before the Yankees’ baseball game against Tampa Bay Rays.</p>

<p>While two team-members laid a wreath in Monument Park.</p>
<p>Meanwhile in London wreaths and bunches of flowers were left in Grosvenor Square Garden near the US Embassy.</p>
