		</div><p>At least seven people have died in a massive snow storm that has hit the eastern United States.</p>
<p>Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and New Jersey have already declared a state of emergency.</p>
<p>Thousands of flights to the eastern US have been cancelled.</p>
<p>This morning&#8217;s scheduled services from Dublin by United Airlines to Newark, American Airlines to Philadelphia, Aer Lingus to New York and Delta&#8217;s flight also to New York are affected.</p>
<p>A huge winter storm could leave parts of the US east coast under a record 3 feet of snow.<br />
If forecasts prove accurate, the storm could rival the one in 1922 which left 71 centimetres of snow in Washington.</p>

<p>The Mayor of Washington DC &#8211; Muriel Bowser – has said emergency services should be the only people who are outside: “You don’t need to be on our roads so we are urging all residents and visitors to get off of the roads, find a safe place and stay there.”</p>
