Without giving numbers, interior minister Mohamed Najem Gharsalli said everyone arrested is Tunisian, adding that the investigation remains in its early stages.

Hotel gunman Seifeddine Rezgui, 24, who used a Kalashnikov assault rifle and grenades, was killed by police after Friday’s carnage in Sousse.

Tunisian authorities say he was acting alone, but had accomplices who provided him with weapons and logistical support.

Three Irish people were killed in the attack, along with an expected 30 British tourists.

One source close to the investigation said that seven people were arrested in total.

Four people were held today – two in Sousse itself, one in the capital Tunis, and one in the restive city of Kasserine. Three others were arrested on Sunday.
