<p>It’s that trick-or-treat time of year. Peter Jenkinson rounds up six of the best ghoulish gadgets for your demonic delight</p>
<p>It is a shame that Halloween happens to fall on a school night this year.</p>
<p>But there will, of course, still be plenty of spook-tacular events occurring across the country and the most committed trick-or-treaters will not be put off by the fact it is a Sunday.</p>
<p>So this weekend, carve out a pumpkin and add one of our ghoulish gadgets to your scare tactics to stand out from the substandard costume crowd.</p>

<p>This fabulous read by baker and graphic designer Lily Vanilli isn’t just for Halloween, although it’s the perfect excuse to buy the book. Packed with fantastic illustrations, it contains 25 bizarre cupcake creations. From morbid meringue bones and marzipan beetles to cherry blood and guts, it’s a far cry from pink-iced fairy cakes but equally delicious.</p>

The candle flickers as you may expect but inside are a couple of LEDs offering a superb illusion and this abracadabra device is controlled by swishing your wand around &#8211; prepare to wow your guests.</p>

<p>If one or more pieces from your original block-stacking game is missing it may be time to invest in a new variation of the tense tower-based favourite. Instead of standard rectangular bricks, this one is made up of bones with a skull balancing at the top. Build the tower and then begin to remove the pieces and replace them at the top in the usual manner, using only one hand of course. Add the skull for another devious dimension to the game play.</p>
