<p>A group of dedicated workers walked for hours through snow storms to get to work &#8211; then slept in the shop when they could not get home, their proud boss has said.</p>
<p>Staff at LD Mountain Centre, Newcastle, took advantage of the high quality sleeping bags they stock to bed down for the night on Monday after staying late to process hundreds of internet orders.</p>
<p>John Sheddon, Dave Harvey and Matthew Reeves walked in from the neighbouring towns of Consett and Stanley, County Durham, which were even harder hit by the snow than Tyneside.</p>
<p>The outdoor specialist shop&#8217;s co-owner Roddy Mackay, 43, of Gosforth, Newcastle, said: &#8220;Conditions were so bad that there were no buses so they all walked in.</p>
<p>&#8220;They were fully kitted up in all the gear we sell in the store. Then they decided to stay in the shop rather than go home, so they camped out here. It just shows the level of commitment from our staff. They were not prepared to bunk off at the earliest opportunity.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mr Sheddon, 55, from Consett, said the 15-mile walk took him three-and-a-half hours.</p>
<p>&#8220;There was heavy snow at times and obviously a lot under foot, but it was also quite pretty. I do a lot of outdoor stuff so it wasn&#8217;t as big a deal for me as it is for some people.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mr Sheddon said they were kept busy until 2am processing internet orders for Christmas and the extra business generated because of the cold snap.</p>
<p>&#8220;We got a lot of work done, went out for a bite to eat then grabbed some sleeping bags and camped here.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mr Mackay said business was &#8220;brilliant&#8221;, and he paid tribute to his hard-working staff.</p>
