		</div><p>Sony has created a new division within its interactive electronics business that will make PlayStation games for mobile devices.<br />
The news comes hot on the heels of Nintendo announcing it is beginning work on mobile games – an industry that has exploded in popularity as smartphones have become more powerful in recent years.</p>
<p>The new division within Sony will be called ForwardWorks, and has the job of taking existing intellectual property on the PlayStation and creating games for iOS and Android from them.<br />
The only downside to this deal appears to be that for now the new business is focusing only on creating games in the Japanese and Asian markets, with no mention of further expansion just yet.</p>

<p>There’s already been some success for big name titles that have made their way on to smaller devices – Hitman Go, a turn-by-turn puzzle game based on the Hitman console franchise, has proved very popular with players.<br />
There’s no word yet on which titles in particular Sony is looking at pushing to mobile, though we can be encouraged that the firm said the aim was to offer “fully-fledged game titles” rather than extensions of existing console games.</p>
