<p>Kevin Spacey has tipped The Social Network for Oscars glory.</p>
<p>The Facebook drama has notched up eight Oscar nominations and been a box office success worldwide, and Kevin &#8211; who co-produced the film with producing partner Dana Brunetti and director David Fincher &#8211; has given it his full backing at the Oscars.</p>
<p>&#8220;I am behind The Social Network 150 percent,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>Kevin revealed he never thought the film, which stars Jesse Eisenberg as Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, would become such a hit.</p>
<p>&#8220;You&#8217;re always surprised when something hits and becomes the zeitgeist in some way. When this idea started nearly four years ago, we said, &#8216;How is that a movie &#8211; it&#8217;s a movie about Facebook?'&#8221; he admitted.</p>
<p>&#8220;There isn&#8217;t a car crash, there are no gun shots, there are no chase sequences, there&#8217;s not any real sex and yet it&#8217;s a film people all around the world have been going to in droves.&#8221;</p>
<p>The 51-year-old added: &#8220;But when you look at the film for what it is, it&#8217;s a movie about friendship, betrayal, power and invention &#8211; lots of things that make the hallmark of great drama.&#8221; </p>
<p>Kevin &#8211; who attended the Jameson Cult Film Club screening of The Usual Suspects in Dublin as part of the 2011 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival &#8211; hopes other filmmakers will be inspired by the film.</p>
<p>&#8220;I hope it encourages other studios that this is the kind of bar we should be reaching as filmmakers,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>The 2011 Jameson Dublin International Film Festival runs until February 17-27.</p>
