<p>Some of the biggest names in showbusiness have walked down the red carpet for the National Television Awards.</p>
<p>Stars from EastEnders and Coronation Street met fans and signed autographs outside the O2 Arena in south-east London.</p>
<p>David Jason, nominated for outstanding drama performance, said he was looking forward to the night but did not expect to win.</p>
<p>The Touch of Frost star said: &#8220;I&#8217;ve been coming to these for years and they are always a good night.</p>
<p>He said: &#8220;The fans enjoy it. But I don&#8217;t expect to win, I&#8217;m up against Dr Who.&#8221;</p>
<p>Matt Smith as The Doctor and Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch are competing for best drama performance with Jason and Philip Glenister for his role in Ashes to Ashes.</p>
<p>The glitzy bash is one of the top nights for TV stars in the awards calendar and drew a roll-call of glamorous on-screen talent including Tess Daly, Peter Andre and Davina McCall.</p>
<p>Competing for most popular drama prize with the adventures of the Time Lord and Arthur Conan Doyle&#8217;s fictional detective are fellow BBC1 series Waterloo Road plus Channel 4&#8217;s Shameless.</p>
<p>Awards host Dermot O&#8217;Leary is up for his first National Television Award for best entertainment presenter at the ceremony for his work on X Factor.</p>
<p>He is competing against Britain&#8217;s Got Talent stars Ant and Dec, aiming for a tenth consecutive win in the category. Davina McCall and Paul O&#8217;Grady are also in the running.</p>
