<p>Meryl Streep brought a touch of Hollywood glamour to the House of Commons when she turned up to watch Prime Minister&#8217;s Questions.</p>
<p>It is understood the Mamma Mia! and Deerhunter star was doing a little research for her next big-screen role, playing Margaret Thatcher in the biopic The Iron Lady.</p>
<p>Downing Street said it played a part in facilitating the Oscar-winning actress&#8217; visit to the House, though it is understood that she did not meet Prime Minister David Cameron.</p>
<p>More than a few MPs were craning their necks to catch a glimpse of Meryl looking down from the visitors&#8217; gallery at events in the chamber, with some sending out messages on Twitter to announce that they had spotted her.</p>
<p>The Iron Lady, which focuses on the period leading up to the 1982 Falklands War, is currently in pre-production, with Jim Broadbent due to play Lady Thatcher&#8217;s husband Denis, Anthony Head as Geoffrey Howe and Richard E Grant as Michael Heseltine.</p>
