		</div><p>BBC newsreader Fiona Bruce has revealed she turned down the chance to star in Strictly Come Dancing because it is too “formal”.</p>
<p>The broadcaster, who has spent more than a quarter of a century at the corporation, is regularly touted as a contender for the dance show.</p>
<p>She told the Daily Telegraph: “The call has come many, many times.</p>
<p>“I’ve always said no. Not because I’m snotty about it but that structured formal dancing is so not me. I just want to get down on the dancefloor.”</p>
<p>Bruce is one of the BBC’s most familiar faces and has presented flagship shows including the News At Six, Crimewatch, Call My Bluff and Antiques Roadshow.</p>
<p>Strictly has had success in the past with newsreaders, with Susanna Reid and Natasha Kaplinsky both taking part in the BBC1 ballroom show.</p>
<p>Last year’s series was won by Caroline Flack, who beat celebrities including Saturdays singer Frankie Bridge and EastEnders actor Jake Wood to win the glitterball trophy.</p>
<p>Former Liberty X singer Michelle Heaton, singer Peter Andre and EastEnder Shane Richie are among the names being mentioned in connection with the new series.</p>
