<p>Burma&#8217;s pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi has called for assistance from the international community to help victims of Cyclone Giri that struck north-western Burma in October.</p>
<p>A spokesman for Ms Suu Kyi&#8217;s political party said that the cyclone&#8217;s victims have received little foreign aid and still suffer great hardships.</p>
<p>Giri killed some 60 people and left more than 200,000 homeless.</p>
<p>The 65-year-old Nobel Prize laureate was released from seven years of house arrest by the military regime in November.</p>
