The singer tweeted that after Apple decided it would pay artists royalties during Apple Music’s free trial, Swift “decided to put 1989 on Apple Music … and happily so”.

Swift wrote a critical Tumblr post on Sunday about Apple’s initial decision to not pay artists during the trial, which begins on Tuesday. Apple later changed its decision.

Swift has pulled 1989 from other streaming services.

She wrote on Twitter: “This is simply the first time it’s felt right in my gut to stream my album.”

She added that “in case you’re wondering if this is some exclusive deal like you’ve seen Apple do with other artists, it’s not”.
