		</div><p>The leader of the Syrian regime says it&#8217;s possible his country could forge an alliance with Donald Trump&#8217;s administration.</p>
<p>President Bashar al-Assad says the president elect would be &#8220;a natural ally&#8221; &#8211; if he follows through on promises to destroy ISIS.</p>
<p>In an interview with Portugal&#8217;s RTP, President Assad said he was adopting a wait and see approach: &#8220;For us it is still dubious whether he can do or live up to his promises.</p>
<p>&#8220;That is why we are very cautious about judging him especially as he has not been in a political position before.&#8221;</p>
