		</div><p>A 15-year-old boy has made a ground-breaking archaeological discovery after finding an ancient Mayan city deep within a Mexican jungle.</p>
<p>William Gadoury, from Canada, theorised Mayans may have chosen the location for their towns in accordance with the star consolations, given the evidence that suggests they closely observed stars.</p>
<p>Using high-resolution satellite images provided by Canadian Space Agency, the Japanese Space Agency and NASA, the teen discovered 22 different star constellations that fell on the locations of 117 known Mayan cities dotted throughout Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.</p>
<p>Looking at the star map closer, Gadoury realised there was one star in the 23rd constellation which didn’t match any known city. Using Google Earth and the satellite images, the teen mapped out the potential location of the missing city, which fell in the middle of a jungle in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico.</p>
<p>Under layers of thick vegetation, Gadoury and a team from the Canadian Space Agency spotted signs of what could’ve be an ancient Mayan pyramid. Surrounding the pyramid there was also evidence of smaller structures and streets within a long lost Mayan city.</p>
<p>Gadoury has named the unexplored city K’aak Chi, which means fire mouth, and hopes to take part in the eventual exploration of the site with archaeologists.</p>
<p>If the findings can be verified, K’aak Chi would be one of the largest Mayan cities ever discovered, according to the newspaper Le Journal de Montreal.</p>
