<p>Overall, the under 18 conception for 2012 is the lowest since 1969 at 27.9 conceptions per thousand women aged 15-17. This shows that over the years government has increased its efforts in helping educate the youth about proper conception in schools. Although, this education only goes so far as there are larger rates of conception in areas such as Manchester and Walsall where young women are poorly educated. Past circumstances have shown that areas with higher unemployment rates, deprivation measures correlates with higher teen pregnancy. However, this does not prove that these factors cause the other.</p>
<p>Throughout England, the North East had the highest rate in 2012 (35.5 per thousand women aged 15-17) and the South East and the East both had the lowest rates (23.2 per thousand women aged 15-17).</p>
<p>Data shows that the conception rate for women aged 40 and over more than doubled from 6.6 in 1990 to 14.0 conceptions per thousand women aged 40 and over in 2012. As for women aged 35-39, the rate almost doubled from 33.6 in 1990 to 63.4 conception per thousand women aged 35-39 in 2012. So clearly we see that there is an increase of women at older ages having children because of a number of reasons: higher education, increasing costs that are associated with having children, etc.</p>
<p>What makes this information important is that it provides us with the information we need to explain to the youth. Having children too early in life can restrict the boundaries a young woman can reach if she were to have none until old enough. The question I leave with you is, what do you believe is the right age to have children?</p>
