<p>Three teenagers have died after a head-on traffic collision.</p>
<p>South Yorkshire Police said the incident happened on Monday night just outside Mexborough when the driver of a silver Vauxhall Corsa crashed into a VW Golf.</p>
<p>The Corsa driver and his front seat passenger, both teenage males, and a 16-year-old girl who was in the rear seat, died in the collision.</p>
<p>Another teenage male who was in the rear of the Corsa suffered serious injuries and was taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary.</p>
<p>The Golf driver, an elderly man, sustained minor injuries.</p>
<p>A police spokesman said the collision happened when the Corsa was overtaking a silver Fiat Punto on Adwick Road travelling out of Mexborough towards Adwick-upon-Dearne near the junction with Crow Tree Lane.</p>
<p>A Vauxhall Astra had just overtaken the Fiat successfully.</p>
<p>The Corsa then tried overtaking the Fiat.</p>
<p>The police spokesman said: &#8220;Before it could complete the manoeuvre the Corsa collided head-on with a Volkswagen Golf travelling in the opposite direction.&#8221;</p>
<p>The collision took place just after 8pm on Monday.</p>
