		</div><p>Turkish jets have shot down a warplane that violated national airspace at the border with Syria, according to reports in the country.</p>
<p>The Dogan news agency, quoting unnamed military officials, said the plane was shot down and crashed into Syrian territory close to the border with Turkey.</p>
<p>It is believed the plane’s pilots ejected by parachute.</p>
<p>The agency did not say which nation the plane was from, and a Turkish government official could not confirm the report.<br />
Last month, Turkish jets shot down an unidentified drone that had also violated Turkey’s airspace.</p>
<p>Rami Abdurrahman, who heads the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said the warplane crashed in the Turkomen Mountains region in the coastal province of Latakia.<br />
He said it is not yet clear if the plane was Russian or Syrian.</p>
