A cargo van stolen from a California motel with four elite show dogs inside worth an estimated 500,000 US dollars (£319,948) has been recovered, but two of the dogs are still missing.
Owner David Peek said he and Kristina Rickard, both of Redding, have been reunited with two Akitas, including a grand champion.
Sheriff’s Lieutenant Shane Robley said deputies recovered the van in Compton.
Two Welsh Pembroke Corgis, the pair brought to compete in a dog show in Long Beach are still missing.
No one has been arrested.
Investigators said they believe the thief was targeting the van that was stolen from a motel in Bellflower on Monday night or early Tuesday morning.
