		</div><p>Uber president Jeff Jones has left the ride-hailing service after just over six months, saying the company is “inconsistent” with his values. The former chief marketing officer of US retail giant Target had been brought in to run the tech firm’s ride-sharing business and help improve its public image.</p>
<p>However, in confirming his departure to tech site Recode, Jones said he had found Uber to be incompatible with his own views. “The beliefs and approach to leadership that have guided my career are inconsistent with what I saw and experienced at Uber, and I can no longer continue as president of the ride-sharing business,” he said.</p>
<p>The announcement comes after a string of incidents linked to the US firm, who recently were forced to abandon a driverless car test in San Francisco after it emerged the company did not have the correct permit. Claims of workplace discrimination and sexism have also surfaced following a blog post by former employee Susan Fowler on her time at the company.</p>
<p>Founder and chief executive Travis Kalanick was also caught on video arguing with an Uber driver who questioned him over a cut in Uber rates. An incident he has since apologised for.</p>
<p>In a statement, Uber confirmed that Jones had quit, saying: “We want to thank Jeff for his six months at the company and wish him all the best.”</p>
<p>Several other executives have also left the company in recent weeks, including engineering exec Amit Singhal, vice president of product and growth Ed Baker and security researcher Charlie Miller.</p>
<p>Elsewhere, Uber is said to currently be on the look-out for a new chief operating officer as it contains efforts to improve its public image as well as help the company embark on its “next chapter”.</p>
