		</div><p>BBC news has reported that a UN panel has ruled in favour of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange after he complained he was &#8220;arbitrarily detained&#8221;.</p>
<p>Mr Assange has said he will hand himself over to police for arrest on Friday if a UN working party rules that he has not been unlawfully detained. The UN decision (from the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention) is due tomorrow.</p>
<p>The Metropolitan Police have said they will make “every effort” to arrest the WikiLeaks founder should he honour his word and leave the Ecuadorian embassy in London where he has been in self-imposed confinement for more than three years.</p>
<p>Mr Assange is wanted for questioning in Sweden over one allegation of sexual assault, which he has always denied, and is fighting against extradition.</p>
<p>He was granted political asylum by the South American nation and has remained in their embassy since breaking police bail in 2012.</p>
