		</div><p>The US-backed Kurdish administration in northern Syria has deliberately displaced thousands of mainly Arab citizens and demolished homes, according to Amnesty International.</p>
<p>The report said the abuses, which amount to war crimes, were often carried out in retaliation for residents&#8217; perceived sympathies for or ties to the so-called &#8216;Islamic State&#8217; group or other militants.</p>
<p>The Kurds, Syria&#8217;s largest ethnic minority, have carved out a semi-autonomous enclave in the north since the start of the country&#8217;s civil war in 2011.</p>
<p>Kurdish fighters have proven to be among the most successful ground forces battling &#8216;IS&#8217;.</p>
<p>Backed by US-led air strikes, they defeated &#8216;IS&#8217; in the Syrian border town of Kobani earlier this year and have since expanded their territory along the border with Turkey.</p>
