Ministry official Kim Chang Min also said in the interview in Pyongyang that the UN&comma; the Security Council and big countries ignored South Korean missile launches and Japanese surveillance satellites&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&&num;8220&semi;This is the limit of double standards&comma;&&num;8221&semi; he said&period; &&num;8220&semi;How can we have any dialogue to get any result with anyone who has this kind of approach&quest;&&num;8221&semi; On Monday&comma; US vice president Mike Pence travelled to the Demilitarised Zone dividing the Koreas and warned Pyongyang that &&num;8220&semi;the era of strategic patience is over&&num;8221&semi;&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>After 25 years of trying to deal patiently with North Korea&&num;8217&semi;s nuclear and missile ambitions&comma; the US decision to hold an open meeting of the Security Council on April 28 on North Korea&&num;8217&semi;s nuclear programme&comma; which is scheduled to be chaired by US secretary of state Rex Tillerson&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He called it &&num;8220&semi;another abuse of authority&&num;8221&semi; by the United States&comma; which holds the Security Council presidency this month&comma; and a violation of the DPRK&&num;8217&semi;s sovereignty&period; Mr Kim ignored questions about the DPRK&&num;8217&semi;s relationship with China and reports that the government did not respond to requests from Chinese officials for a meeting&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Instead he reiterated two Chinese proposals that the US rejected&period; One called for &&num;8220&semi;dual-track&&num;8221&semi; talks on denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula &&num;8211&semi; the top priority of the United States &&num;8211&semi; and replacing the armistice that ended the 1950-53 Korean War with a formal peace treaty&comma; a key demand of Pyongyang&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The other called for a freeze on US-South Korean military exercises and a freeze on DPRK missile and nuclear tests&period; Meanwhile Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi made a new appeal for calm on the Korean Peninsula and says he believed the United States would prefer a diplomatic resolution to the stand-off&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Mr Wang told reporters that although US officials have made clear that a military strike remains on the table&comma;
