<p>Eight American tourists have been killed and 21 others injured when their bus smashed into a truck in southern Egypt, the country&#8217;s national news agency said.</p>
<p>Mena said the crash took place early on Sunday as the tourists were travelling from Aswan to Abu Simbel, the site of an ancient Egyptian temple.</p>
<p>Road accidents are common in Egypt because of bad roads and poor enforcement of traffic rules. An estimated 8,000 people die in car accidents annually in the country.</p>
