<p>Gore Verbinski is to direct Lone Ranger, it has been reported.</p>
<p>The American filmmaker &#8211; best known for helming the Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy &#8211; is saddling up for the Disney feature, which will see him reuniting with Pirates star Johnny Depp.</p>
<p>Johnny is attached to play the Lone Ranger&#8217;s sidekick Tonto in the big-screen adaptation of the hit TV series, reported Deadline. </p>
<p>It is not known who will play the title character or when production will begin.</p>
<p>Gore has completed his first animated movie, Rango, where his favourite leading man lent his vocal talent to the title lizard.</p>
<p>He is also directing a remake of the 1985 black comedy Clue, which has a tentative release date for 2012.</p>
