<p>A woman has survived a 40-mile ride clinging to the bonnet of a minivan driven by her husband after a row, California police said.</p>
<p>Manteca authorities told KOVR-TV that 36-year-old Christopher Michael Carroll is being held at the San Joaquin County Jail on a charge of attempted murder.</p>
<p>Police says he drove off in the family&#8217;s minivan with his wife clinging to the windscreen wiper and side mirror after she attempted to stop him from leaving.</p>
<p>Police spokesman Rex Osborn said she jumped on the bonnet, &#8220;and that&#8217;s when her adventure started&#8221;.</p>
<p>Authorities say Carroll sped through Manteca, got onto the motorway and did not pull over until he reached Pleasanton, more than 40 miles away.</p>
<p>The woman, whose name was not released, suffered hypothermia.</p>
