<p>A US judge has scheduled arguments in the case of a man accused of going on the internet and encouraging a British man and a Canadian woman to commit suicide.</p>
<p>In a brief hearing in Faribault, Minnesota, Rice County District Judge Thomas Neuville scheduled arguments for next Thursday on the charges against William Melchert-Dinkel.</p>
<p>The 48-year-old has pleaded not guilty but said he accepts the evidence gathered in the case. The judge will decide whether he is guilty based on that evidence.</p>
<p>Melchert-Dinkel has said his comments should be protected by free speech.</p>
<p>Prosecutors gave the judge several compact discs and nearly 1,000 pages of evidence at today&#8217;s hearing. Both sides agreed to give the judge more time to rule given the extensive evidence. He has up to 20 days after next week&#8217;s hearing.</p>
<p>He is accused of encouraging the suicides of Nadia Kajouji, 18, of Brampton, Ontario, and Mark Drybrough, 32, of Coventry, in the UK.</p>
