<p>A Briton, and American and a Spanish businessman were among seven people killed in a plane crash in northern Iraq, the country&#8217;s mobile phone company AsiaCell has said.</p>
<p>The three Westerners were guests of an Iraqi businessman, an AsiaCell board member, who also died in Friday&#8217;s crash, a statement from the company said.</p>
<p>The crew &#8211; two Jordanians and a Lebanese &#8211; were also killed.</p>
<p>The small plane&#8217;s engine caught on fire shortly after taking off from Sulaimaniyah Airport in northern Iraq. It tried to land but crashed in a heavy snowstorm.</p>
<p>The plane was heading to the Turkish capital of Ankara.</p>
<p>Authorities have blamed the crash on a mechanical failure.</p>
<p>Sulaimaniyah is 160 miles north-east of Baghdad.</p>
