‘Colin in Black and White’ will cover the teenage life of a man who made it to the NFL and used his platform as a voice against police brutality. Kaepernick – a man known for taking a knee during the US national anthem – played for the San Francisco 49ers.

‘The Get Down’ actor Jaden Michael is set to cast as Colin Kaepernick in his younger years.

Michael, 17, has been featured in a variety of projects like “The Bug Diaries,” “Vampires vs. the Bronx,” “The Get Down” and “Wonderstruck.”

The project already has a lot of hype, and with DuVernay as the director the public cannot wait. The partnership of DuVernay and Netflix has proven to be successful before. With titles like ’13 Reasons Why’ and ‘When They See Us’ you can only expect the best from the collaboration.

There is no set date for the release of the series since the production has not started. The delay is also due to filming restrictions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

However, we are aware Kaepernick, DuVernay and Emmy Award winner Michael Starburry wrote the script and finished it in May. The series will consist of six episodes.

Announcing the series, DuVernay said, “With his act of protest, Colin Kaepernick ignited a national conversation about race and justice with far-reaching consequences for football, culture and for him, personally.

“Colin’s story has much to say about identity, sports and the enduring spirit of protest and resilience. I couldn’t be happier than to tell this story with the team at Netflix.”
