<p>US stocks were mixed at the close of Monday&#8217;s session, as traders shrugged off news that China raised interest rates to slow the pace of its economic growth.</p>
<p>Wall Street is also anticipating that Tuesday&#8217;s consumer confidence index for December will reflect the optimism of the strong holiday shopping season this year.</p>
<p>Otherwise, Monday was a quiet day following the holiday weekend. A blizzard in the north-east disrupted commutes for many traders and contributed to very light volume.</p>
<p>According to preliminary data, the Dow Jones industrial average finished down 18.46, or 0.16%, to 11,555.03 The S&#038;P 500 was up 0.77 points, or 0.06%, to 1,257.54. And the Nasdaq composite index ended up 1.67 points, or 0.06%, to 2,667.27</p>
<p>The yield on the 10-year Treasury bond rose slightly to 3.34%.</p>
