<p>A four-year-old girl has been found dead and her mother is in hospital with serious injuries, police said.</p>
<p>Officers were called to a house in Lea Mount Drive, Bury, Greater Manchester, at about 6.50pm on Thursday.</p>
<p>They discovered the child&#8217;s body and a woman in her 30s suffering from serious injuries resulting from a suspected suicide bid.</p>
<p>She was rushed to hospital where she remains in a critical condition.</p>
<p>Detectives are trying to establish how the girl was killed but it is thought they are not seeking anyone else over her death.</p>
<p>Chief Superintendent Jon Rush, of Greater Manchester Police, said: &#8220;We are still trying to establish exactly what has gone on but what is clear is a young girl has lost her life and this is clearly very tragic.</p>
<p>&#8220;I want to reassure residents we have a team of specialist officers at the scene who are trying to establish exactly what has happened.&#8221;</p>
<p>A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out on the girl later.</p>
