<p>The cast of US comedy drama Glee have smashed Elvis&#8217; record for the fastest act to score 20 top 40 hits, the Official Charts Company said.</p>
<p>Stars of the hit TV show took 57 weeks to achieve the feat with Toxic entering the singles chart at number 40.</p>
<p>The previous record holder, Elvis Presley, took 88 weeks to achieve 20 hits.</p>
<p>The Glee cast&#8217;s total includes three top 10s and six top 20s. They have now sold more than two million singles and over a million albums in the UK.</p>
<p>Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official Charts Company, said: &#8220;This is a quite amazing achievement by the Glee cast to be in the same company as the likes of Elvis Presley, in fact beating his 50-year-old record.</p>
<p>&#8220;The success underlines just how popular this TV show has become, as well as emphasising how digital downloading has transformed the consumer&#8217;s engagement with music. The Glee cast are superstars of the digital music age.&#8221;</p>
<p>Toxic gives the Glee cast members their 50th top 75 hit in 57 weeks. Previous record holders The Shadows took almost seven times as long.</p>
