<p>Helena Bonham Carter has claimed that an actress&#8217; outfits get more attention than their talent these days.</p>
<p>The Oscar-nominated actress and mother-of-two said the fashion aspect has &#8220;hijacked&#8221; the industry on the red carpet at the Moet British Independent Film Awards in London.</p>
<p>&#8220;The fashion thing has just hijacked the whole profession &#8211; it&#8217;s all about what you&#8217;re wearing,&#8221; she said.</p>
<p>&#8220;They couldn&#8217;t really care less about whether you act well, it&#8217;s about whether you wear the dress right.&#8221;</p>
<p>Helena, who is known for her kooky outfits, added she doesn&#8217;t succumb to that expectation: &#8220;I don&#8217;t do that but whatever. I just like getting dressed up and pleasing myself.&#8221;</p>
<p>The British-born star, who was honoured with the Richard Harris gong for her outstanding contribution to the industry, also joked that the British film industry would never perish.</p>
<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s always on its last legs and we&#8217;re never going to die. It&#8217;s like a cat with 10,000 lives,&#8221; she said.</p>
