<p>Sarah Palin has said she could defeat US President Barack Obama if she was to seek the White House in 2012.</p>
<p>In an excerpt from an ABC News interview, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee said she was considering a presidential run.</p>
<p>When asked directly if she thought she could defeat Democrat Mr Obama, the former Alaska governor replied: &#8220;I believe so.&#8221;</p>
<p>An Associated Press-GfK poll this month found Mrs Palin the most polarising of the potential 2012 Republican presidential candidates.</p>
<p>The poll said 46% of Americans view her favourably, 49% unfavourably, and 5% do not know enough about her to form an opinion.</p>
<p>Yet among adults who identified themselves as Republicans or Republican-leaning independents, 79% view her favourably.</p>
