<p>Ice Cube is in talks to join Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street, according to reports.</p>
<p>If the deal goes ahead, the US rapper-turned-actor will play a precinct captain in the film, Deadline said.</p>
<p>The movie, about undercover police officers who infiltrate high schools, will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.</p>
<p>Johnny Depp starred in the original 21 Jump Street TV series in the 1980s.</p>
<p>Asked recently about making a cameo appearance in the movie, Johnny told Extra host Mario Lopez: &#8220;I would do it in a second. I would be happy to do it. I&#8217;m sure there&#8217;s some kind of fun to be had. Just waiting to be asked!&#8221;</p>
<p>The Sony Pictures film begins shooting in late April.</p>
