Muse, La Roux and veteran rocker Jeff Beck have all taken home Grammys in Los Angeles, while Lady Gaga was hatched out of an egg for one of a number of memorable live performances at the ceremony.

Muse won Best Rock Album at the prestigious American music event, alongside fellow Brits La Roux who won for Best Electronic/Dance album and legendary guitarist Jeff Beck who took home two awards for Best Pop Instrumental and Best Rock Instrumental.

Justin Bieber had been hotly tipped to do well at this year’s ceremony but 16-year-old pop sensation left empty handed. Instead Best New Artist went to jazz bassist and singer Esperanza Spalding.

Lady Gaga won Best Female Pop Performance for Bad Romance and Album of the Year went to Arcade Fire for The Suburbs.

Florence Welch from Florence And The Machine helped open the ceremony joining Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson to perform an Aretha Franklin medley.

Katy Perry set the mood for Valentine’s Day with her rendition of Not Like The Movies. Watched by husband Russell Brand, the singer was elevated into the air on a special love seat whilst footage from the couple’s wedding ceremony was projected behind her.

Lady Gaga didn’t disappoint with her musical performance. The singer emerged on stage out of a giant egg sporting strange alien horns on her face and shoulders as she belted out Born this Way.

Cee Lo Green and Gwyneth Paltrow’s duet of Forget You went down well with the celeb-packed audience. Accompanied by Jim Henson puppets, Cee Lo dressed head-to-toe in red feathers with a Gladiator-style breast plate with a giant peacock plume sprouting out the back. Gwyneth was note perfect when she came on halfway through the song.
