<p>Lesley Manville has revealed her disappointment about missing out on an Oscar nod.</p>
<p>The British actress had been hotly tipped to receive a best actress Academy Award nomination for her critically acclaimed performance in Mike Leigh&#8217;s Another Year, but was snubbed in favour of Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lawrence, Annette Bening and Michelle Williams.</p>
<p>&#8220;[I am] disappointed, but it&#8217;s been a crowded year this year &#8211; there are lots of good performances by actresses,&#8221; she said on the red carpet at the Critics Circle awards in London.</p>
<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m disappointed for the film really, because I feel a lot of us did our best work in it, although it is nominated for best original screenplay.&#8221; </p>
<p>Lesley, who was voted British Actress of the Year at the awards, is looking on the bright side though.</p>
<p>&#8220;You have to see a plus in that, because there have been many years where there&#8217;s not been many great parts for women and they&#8217;re struggling, but this year has been a bumper year,&#8221; she continued.</p>
<p>&#8220;At the end of the day, it&#8217;s the work that matters. A lot of people have seen the film, certainly in America, and like it, and a lot of people who didn&#8217;t know me then now do. So it&#8217;s a win-win situation.&#8221;</p>
<p>Despite missing out on an Oscar, Lesley is up for best supporting actress at the Baftas, while the film is nominated for best British film.</p>
