<p>Dame Helen Mirren says she &#8220;grabbed&#8221; hold of one of the classic male Shakespearean roles for her new movie The Tempest.</p>
<p>&#8220;[Prospero] is a great role, and there are not enough of those for women, so I grabbed one for myself,&#8221; she explained at the film&#8217;s Hollywood premiere.</p>
<p>Oscar-nominated filmmaker Julie Taymor changed the gender of the sorcerer Prospero into the sorceress Prospera when she found out that the actress would be interested in taking on the role.</p>
<p>&#8220;It was fantastic,&#8221; Dame Helen insisted of the shoot in Hawaii.</p>
<p>&#8220;All you want as an actress is a wonderful role, there are not enough great Shakespearean women for women of my age,&#8221; she explained.</p>
<p>Russell Brand, who plays the jester Trinculo, admitted he&#8217;d become particularly enamoured working with one Britain&#8217;s finest actresses.</p>
<p>&#8220;She&#8217;s so sexy in such an effortless way. I really, really love her,&#8221; he insisted.</p>
<p>&#8220;If I were not a married man, I&#8217;d be looking to sleep on her lap every night curled up,&#8221; he teased. </p>
