<p>Nicolas Cage has revealed he learned to ride a horse for the first time in new adventure film Season Of The Witch.</p>
<p>The National Treasure star &#8211; who plays a 14th century knight in the film about a woman who is accused of being a witch and starting the Black Plague &#8211; admits he was anxious to make his riding skills look authentic.</p>
<p>Nicolas revealed: &#8220;It&#8217;s true I&#8217;d never been on a horse before, I wasn&#8217;t entirely sure if I&#8217;d be able to hit my mark on a horse and so quite a bit of time had to go into that. I thankfully had a very good teacher named Camilla who brought me up to speed very quickly.</p>
<p>&#8220;But being a boy from California I knew that if I didn&#8217;t have proper horseback riding and also proper sword wielding, I wouldn&#8217;t be authentic as a knight to the audience so that&#8217;s where I really focused my rehearsal and my training.&#8221;</p>
<p>He added: &#8220;It went very well. I had a great horse. This horse&#8217;s name was Dali, as in Salvador Dali, and he really took care of me.&#8221;</p>
<p>The film, co-starring Claire Foy and Ron Perlman, reunites Nicolas with Gone In Sixty Seconds director Dominic Sena.</p>
<p>The actor revealed he loved filming on location in Austria, Hungary and Croatia.</p>
<p>He said: &#8220;For me it was just this opportunity to be in the most beautiful landscape you can imagine like a Grimm&#8217;s fairytale. Some of these forests really look like these fairytale forests that you think about in the books and there I was. I loved every moment of it.&#8221;</p>
