aged between 19 and 28&comma; and from Cardiff&comma; London and Stoke-on-Trent&comma; were held a week ago during a series of dawn raids by counter-terrorism officers&period; They appeared in the dock at City of Westminster Magistrates&&num;8217&semi; Court in three separate groups&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The potential targets are understood to include the London Stock Exchange&comma; the US Embassy and political and religious figures&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The court appearance came after unarmed police swooped on properties in London&comma; Cardiff&comma; Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham on the morning of December 20&period; Two men from Cardiff and one from London were later released without charge&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The nine spoke only to confirm their names&comma; dates of birth and addresses&comma; before Senior District Judge Howard Riddle remanded them to appear at the Old Bailey on January 14&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>They are charged with conspiring to cause an explosion &&num;8211&semi; or explosions &&num;8211&semi; &&num;8220&semi;of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property in the UK&&num;8221&semi; between November 6 and December 21&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>They face an additional count of preparing for acts of terrorism between the same dates by agreeing potential targets&semi; carrying out reconnaissance work ahead of possible attacks&semi; attending a series of meetings&semi; igniting and testing incendiary material and researching and discussing materials and methods&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The suspects from Cardiff are Gurukanth Desai&comma; 28&comma; of Albert Street&semi; Omar Sharif Latif&comma; 26&comma; of Neville Street&semi; and Abdul Malik Miah&comma; 24&comma; of Ninian Park Road&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The suspects from London are Mohammed Moksudur Rahman Chowdhury&comma; 20&comma; of Stanliff House&comma; Tower Hamlets&comma; and Shah Mohammed Lutfar Rahman&comma; 28&comma; of St Bernard&&num;8217&semi;s Road&comma; Newham&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The suspects from Stoke-on-Trent are Nazam Hussain&comma;
