<p>Counting in Wales for a referendum on Welsh Assembly powers is due to begin.</p>
<p>Voters attended 2,506 polling stations across Wales up until 10pm on Thursday.</p>
<p>People were asked whether they want the assembly to have primary legislative powers in Wales.</p>
<p>Currently, the Welsh Assembly Government has to apply to Westminster for a Legislative Competence Order (LCO) in order for a law to come into effect.</p>
<p>Votes from the 22 local authorities are scheduled to be counted in The Senedd, Cardiff, from 10am onwards by The Electoral Commission &#8211; with the result expected later on Friday.</p>
<p>While counting is under way the building has been made off limits to the public as well as Welsh Assembly staff, who work in the nearby Ty Hywel.</p>
