<p>Guy Ritchie has not been formally offered a job directing the 300 sequel, Xerxes.</p>
<p>The Sherlock Holmes director was reported to have been given the opportunity to work on the action follow-up, but a Warner Bros spokesperson has denied the claims. </p>
<p>They told Entertainment Weekly that the suggestion Guy had formally been offered the role was &#8220;an erroneous rumour&#8221;.</p>
<p>Like the 2006 film 300, which starred Gerard Butler, Xerxes is based on one of Frank Miller&#8217;s graphic novels.</p>
<p>Filmmaker Zack Snyder has his hands full with Superman: Man Of Steel, which is expected to start filming this summer and stars Henry Cavill as the caped superhero.</p>
<p>The future of Xerxes is up in the air &#8211; it remains in active development but has not yet been given the go-ahead.</p>
